My Story

As I started my career as a counselor in the non-profit area I learned that the best way to connect with clients was through the healing powers of connection and play therapy. In my clinical experience, play therapy provides an opportunity for clients and clinicians to find a common language while processing life biggest hurts.

In 2004, I started my work with children, adults, and couples, which emphasized the need to enrich my client centered framework with experiential techniques that will allow clients process their life experience through adult play therapy, and sand tray work. In my journey to understand how to best serve clients I started to deepen my understanding on how neurobiological processes impacted client's response to life challenges.

In 2009, I became the Play Therapy Coordinator of one of the first University Approved Centers by the Association for Play Therapy. This experience as a professor and supervisor sparked my love for training the new generation of therapist who will be leading the field and my love for incorporating technology into clinical practices and supervision. In 2010, I published the first play therapy interactive book for the Ipad.

Currently, I am the Clinical Director of Counseling Services at Resurrection.  I am  actively involved in the counseling and play therapy community with topics related to the neurobiology of mental health, generational research, diversity and inclusion, parenting, supervision, and technology.  I am a community partner of  Sesame Street in Communities and serve at the Association for Play Therapy Board of Directors.

My current clinical focus is on evidence based practices such as Client Centered Counseling, Child Centered Play Therapy, and EMDR. I believe clients have the highest level of resilience when they have a safe place to process challenging experiences through experiential approaches.
